Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa is set in acres of woodland on the edge of Newbury.
It was the perfect place for a night away, not too far for one night, but just far enough that you felt like you were having an adventure.
A spacious hotel with 111 rooms, a well equipped gym, a spa with all the delights and an 18 course golf course.
The staff were welcoming and very helpful from initial check in to access to the spa facilities.
The bedroom was contemporary with a spacious bathroom and balcony overlooking the grounds.
The spa had a decent sized pool, jacuzzi, aroma room, sauna and steam room. And was a good size so you didn’t feel crowded by other guests.
The treatment rooms, if you decided to indulge were relaxing and there was a great range of treatments on offer. The therapists were just delightful.
This is a wonderful hotel and has everything to offer from a night away with the hubby to a girls or boys weekend away.
We will most defiantly venture back.
Let’s start at the bar, a goblet of G&T for me to enjoy while sitting next to the open fire place. The bar is open and over 2 floors with open beams making it look like the inside of a barn.
Dinner is served In a spacious, high ceiling dining room and the food to be honest was a little on the tepid side but still delicious.
The menu is vast, with so much to choose from and all locally sourced, which always get my thumbs up.
The staff were so kind and could not do enough for us, the Semileier walked us through the wines and really knew his stuff.
To start was the scallops with textures of cauliflower
For main, one of my favourites, venison loin , served with a rich and sumptuous chocolate sauce.
Rather than heading to the sweet stuff we shared a Cheese board and a flavoursome bottle of Pinot Noir.
A wonderful way to end the evening and a great day of us time.
Breakfast is served in the same room and there is an array of food to suit all. Cereals, continental, smoothies, Full English. The list goes on, you definitely won’t leave here feeling hungry.
Accessibility for my Wheels – Pretty Damn Good (just a couple of tweaks would make it marvellous)
With disabled parking right outside the front door, a ramp leading up to electric doors that welcome you into a spacious reception.
Was s good size with a wet room with roll too bath as well as a shower with shower chair.
There are lifts to all floors to easily access the bar, the spa and treatment rooms.
The spa was fully accessible and the aroma room, sauna and steam room were easy to get into with my chair and spacious enough for me to either transfer or stay in my chair, I have never experienced this before as the doors to these kind of rooms are not normally big enough to get through, so it was a real treat to fully emerge myself in enjoying what was on offer.
Unfortunately there is no hoist for the pool, but if your capable to transfer up and down then you should be able to get in and out.
The treatment rooms were also fully accessible, with electric beds to move to your desired height.
Dog Friendly: believe so heard one barking in a room, but not official so best to ask
