The Crab & Boar situated in the Berkshire countryside right in the edge of Newbury, this place was an absolute find and must visit.
A country pub with rooms, You are welcomed into the garden with a flowing fountain facing this old wooden outhouse. Inside is quite vast and had a log/hunting cabin feel to it, with open fire places, wood finishes and a couple of Boar heads on the walls for good measure!!
It was cosy and sheek at the same time.
With a bar and Al La Carte menu there was too much deliciousness to chose.
To start We shared the Octupus with ham and nut dressing which was just divine. The octupus was cooked to perfection.
We also had the quinoa cakes with salad, a simple dish filled with flavour and the quinoa cakes were as light as clouds.
For main was the seafood pasta and the venison stew. Both delightful and not so big that we felt too full by the end of the meal.
Wheelchair Access – 2.5 out of 5
A gravelled car park (there are no disabled bays, the spaces where you thought they might be for easy access are taken up by car charges), leads to a wonky path then more gravel to get to the ramp, don’t worry the gravel was not too deep but you might need a second pair of hands.
All areas of the bar and restaurant were accessible, and there was a disabled toilet (unfortunately out of action)
There was also an accessible bedroom with wet room should you wish to make a night of it
Pooches Allowed? – Yes (apart from main restaurant)
A lovely country pub that I hope to venture back to soon the food was fantastic, staff accommodating, the access for my wheelchair was ok but hey the rest of it made up for that.
