Sindhu is one of the 2 restaurants in the MaCdonald Complete Angler situated in Marlow. On a sunny day it is in the perfect position to enjoy a drink or two (should you want to pay the price for the view), which is directly over the River Thames.
Serving up contemporary Indian cuisine from head chef AtulKochhar. The surroundings views of the Thames were the perfect spot for a Saturday afternoon double date with the bestie and her hubby.
Indian for lunch I hear you say, you must be mad! But this is no ordinary Indian, the food is fragrant and far lighter than your normal curry house, and at E29 for 3 courses and a glass of house wine cannot be sniffed at.
Being given the drinks menu the girls opted for a Sindhu Martini a blend of Tanquery Gin, curry leaves, fresh ginger and fresh lime. Word of advice, make sure you have at least had breakfast prior to drinking this, as to be honest I felt a little drunk!!
A small dish of mini poppadums’ was placed in front of us with an array of freshly made dips, which we happily munched on while we chose what morsels to devour for our starter and main.
We felt it was only right that we share some of the nibblesalong with our starters. These were Crispy chicken with chilli and curry dip and a dish of what everyone decided was one of the best dishes of the day, Masala Squid Rings, just delicious.
My starter was a crisp soft shell crab with fennel salad.
For main I went for Grilled curry leaf prawn, courgette vermicelli and as a prawn lover this got the BIG THUMBS UP.
The table was given tomato rice and 2 dhal dishes to share, and considering how much we would normally order, these were very small portions and were proof at how gluttonous we normally are, as we did not even finish them off.
Hot towels were served and as you can see were a total surprise, as we initially thought these were some kind of sweet!
None of us can comment on the desserts as we were just too stuffed from all of the deliciousness we had devoured prior.
We left with full bellies, smiles on our faces and with the sun shining. Happy Days!
Wheelchair Access – 4 out of 5
As the restaurant is set in the grounds of one of the largest hotel groups in the UK, I was expecting good accessibility and I was not disappointed.
The car park has a number of disabled parking spaces with flat access through to the garden and then through large double doors into the entrance towards Sindhu.
There was a small step up to the restaurant, which a ramp could be obtained for and then large double doors into the restaurant itself, with good accessibility to tables that a person in a chair could easily get under.
The disabled toilet to the right of the door down a marbled hallway, is light, spacious and with a number of bars around the room to enable safe transferring and support.
Pooches Allowed? – NO
A great place to stop and take a moment with friends. I will definitely be going back or trying one of the many other restaurants within the group.
