A night away at The Hardwick Wales

The Hardwick a gorgeous Gastro pub set on the edge of Abergavenny amongst the green and luscious valleys of Wales, a beautiful place to stop for the night for you and your loved one, a moment of ‘us time’.

The bar area is sleek and contemporary with large sofas and arm chairs to relax with your favourite tipple.

The restaurant is cosy and intimate with its bare beams and views of the beautiful Welsh countryside.

There are 8 bedrooms, we stayed in No 5 The Pump Room!!

A comfortable well designed space, with its moody lighting, clean finish and Melin Tregwynt textiles, the perfect place for you to snuggle up for the night.

The wet room bathroom was spacious and offered a delightful array of products to laver yourself up with before draping yourself in a fresh white cosy bathrobe.

Recently awarded 5 Stars by visit Wales, this beautiful place is a perfect spot for you to visit for a night away from it all.

Chef Stephen Terry and his team offered up some locally sourced, sumptuous delights for you to get your teeth into

A Provençal style fish soup with its creamy rouille and kick of Gruyere cheese was a powerful way to start the meal off.

Or if you fancy it the Duck Hash which seemed to be the must have amongst all the diners.

To follow roasted Hake with a white bean, pea and chorizo fabada, yum yum yum.

Or if you fancy a taste of the Welsh countryside, the slow cooked shoulder of Welsh lamb with polenta sandwich, full of flavour and goodness for a rainy spring evening.

if you can fit in dessert I commend you as No dessert could be eaten as the portions were a fantastic size and if I’m totally honest the restaurant was so hot it got a bit airless, so it was good to step out into the bar area and chill out on the comfortable sofa for a night cap.

But there’s more, if you weren’t still stuffed from dinner, breakfast the next mornings has all the offerings from homemade granola, a Welsh breakfast to smoked haddock and poached egg, a great way to kick start the day and soak up a bit of the alcohol from the night before!!

You get a lot of bang for your buck here, fantastic quality food, welcoming staff and comfortable surrounding helped towards a memorable night away.

Wheelchair Access – 4 out of 5

With a fully tarmac car park, disabled bays and flat walkways, there is great outside accessibility.

There is a small lip into the bar area and a fully accessible disabled toilet.

The Wheelchair accessible restaurant is down a small, slightly dodgy ramp but it’s doable.

The bedroom was spacious with easy access to the bed, which was a good height for transferring.

The bathroom was a wet room with bars by the toilet and on the shower wall, the shower chair was not attached to the wall, more of a shower stool therefore assistance was needed to transfer.

Why not take a lot at some of my top accessible restaurants in the UK for some great places to experience.

Pooches Allowed – no

Final Thoughts

The Hardwick is a wonderful night away, in this beautiful part of the Welsh countryside, it s definately worth venturing to for a moment together.

Much Love
